This article aims to analyze the effects of adopting new agricultural technologies on the well-being of Togolese households. The propensity score and the instrumental variable methods were used to correct selection and endogeneity biases based on data from the Harmonized Household Living Conditions Survey (EHCVM 2018). The results reveal that gender, area, use of plant protection products, crop association, and region of ownership are the main determinants of improved seed adoption. Furthermore, adopting improved seeds has a significant and positive effect on household consumption expenditure and reduces the number of households with income below the poverty line. Indeed, households using improved seeds saw their total consumption and food expenditure increase by 7 points and 0.105 points, respectively, compared to households not using them. These results suggest an intensification of sensitization of farm households to adopt new agricultural technologies, especially improved seeds, to reduce the poverty rate in rural areas.
